In alignment with the directives of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), the American Polytechnic of Nigeria, Ibadan (APN) has established the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) to uphold its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. This unit is dedicated to promoting integrity and transparency within the institution.
Mandate of ACTU:
ACTU is entrusted with the responsibility of educating and informing the APN community to prevent various forms of misconduct, including:
Corruption
Fraud
Cheating
Oppression
Denial of rights
Sexual harassment
Intimidation
Extortion
Bullying
Fighting
Any criminal activities or unethical practices
These efforts are directed towards all members of the APN community, including students, staff, and service providers.
Your Role:
If you experience or witness any form of corruption or unethical behavior, it is imperative to report it promptly. By doing so, you help maintain the integrity of our institution and protect others from similar misconduct.
Indicators of Corrupt Practices:
Be vigilant for the following signs:
Requests to return after official hours without a valid reason.
Demands for payment for services that are officially free.
Instructions to keep certain actions or requests confidential.
Requests to deposit money into personal accounts instead of official APN accounts.
Provision of receipts lacking APN’s name, logo, official stamp, or signature.
Unnecessary requests for personal contact information.
Invitations to meet outside the campus for unofficial assistance or favors.
Demands for payment or other forms of gratification in exchange for assistance.
Offering money, gifts, or favors to obtain undue advantages.
Acting as an intermediary to solicit favors on behalf of others.
Misleading others into believing you can secure undue favors for them.
Encouraging or coercing others to engage in unethical practices for personal gain.
Recognizing these signs is crucial in identifying and preventing corruption.
