The Admissions Department plays a crucial role in managing the student intake process and ensuring compliance with institutional and national admission standards. Its primary responsibilities include:

  1. Serving as Secretariat to the Admissions Committee: Providing administrative support to the Admissions Committee, including organizing meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting decisions.

  2. Publication of Admission Advertisements: Developing and disseminating advertisements to inform prospective students about available programs and admission requirements.

  3. Provision of Admission Materials: Ensuring that all necessary materials and information regarding program requirements are available for the admission process.

  4. Advising on Admission Guidelines and Compliance: Guiding the Admissions Committee on national admission guidelines, such as those set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and ensuring adherence to established procedures.

  5. Liaison with JAMB: Coordinating with JAMB on matters related to National Diploma Full-Time admissions, including the submission of shortlisted candidates for approval.

  6. Publication of Admission Lists: Distributing approved admission lists to relevant departments and schools within the institution.

  7. Screening and Registration of Candidates: Verifying candidates’ credentials for clearance and facilitating their online registration.

  8. Student Registration and ID Issuance: Conducting the registration process for new students and issuing identification cards.

  9. Processing Deferment of Admission: Managing requests from students seeking to defer their admission to a later date.

By effectively executing these functions, the Admissions Department ensures a transparent, efficient, and compliant admission process, contributing to the institution’s academic integrity and reputation.
